The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook predicting haziness and cloudiness across the country from Monday to Wednesday.
According to the forecast released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet anticipates moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km over the northern and North Central states. However, patches of clouds are expected in Benue, Kogi, and Kwara, creating a hazy atmosphere.
In the southern regions, including the Inland and Coast, patches of clouds are forecasted throughout the period. Additionally, isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states during the afternoon and evening hours.
On Wednesday, NiMet predicts a slight dust haze over the northern region, with patches of clouds in a hazy atmosphere over the North Central region. Isolated thunderstorms are expected later in the day in parts of Plateau, Kwara, Benue, and Kogi states.
In the southern regions, including the Inland and Coast, patches of clouds are expected in the morning, with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over various states later in the day.
NiMet advised people with respiratory issues to wear face masks as a precautionary measure. It also recommended that children and the elderly wear warm clothing at night and pay special attention to skin, eyes, and lips by moisturizing them.
Furthermore, NiMet advised airline operators to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts to ensure effective planning for their operations.
