Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has raised concerns over the purported influx of herdsmen from neighbouring countries, including Niger Republic, allegedly orchestrated to destabilize his administration.

Addressing concerns at the Chapel of Grace, Government House, Makurdi, on Sunday, Governor Alia disclosed that some indigenes had been implicated in inviting herdsmen into the state.

In a statement by Donald Kumun, the Principal Special Assistant on Print Media, Governor Alia urged the public to remain calm, assuring that security agencies are committed to ensuring the safety of citizens.

Governor Alia revealed that individuals behind the influx of herdsmen had written letters inviting them to the state, vowing not to tolerate any actions aimed at disrupting peace and security.

Expressing disappointment over the actions of fellow Benue citizens, Governor Alia emphasized the need for unity and collaboration in advancing the state’s development agenda.

He called on those unwilling to support his administration’s efforts to improve the state to leave, reaffirming his commitment to fostering peace and development in Benue.

Governor Alia reassured citizens that those responsible for any wrongdoing would be held accountable, underscoring his administration’s dedication to the welfare and progress of Benue State.
