Scores of suspected political thugs disrupted the coalition of results for the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the 2024 governorship election in Edo State.
The collation at Lushville Hotel and Suite in Benin City was interrupted while results from eight local government areas were being announced.
Journalists covering the event were forced to leave as the thugs overpowered police officers at the gate and invaded the venue.
Several journalists, including an NTA cameraman and FRCN reporter, were assaulted, and their equipment was damaged.
Despite the presence of the State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adeboye, the chaos continued.
As of now, the situation remains unclear, with uncertainty about its resolution.
