Nigeria Can Leverage Mobile Connectivity to Boost Fintech Growth, Says NCC

In a recent address, Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), underscored Nigeria’s conducive environment for the thriving financial technology industry (Fintech), fueled by its vibrant youth population and expanding mobile connectivity.

Speaking at the launch of the book titled “Digital Economy and the Prospect of Financial Technology in Nigeria,” authored by Engr. Dipo Fisho in collaboration with Glorious Vision University (GVU) in Ogwa, Dr. Maida emphasized the immense potential of Fintech in promoting financial inclusion, driving economic growth, and advancing social progress across the nation.

Represented by Engr. Kunle Olorundare at the book launch event, Dr. Maida commended Fisho’s significant contributions to the Fintech industry, describing the book as a timely exploration of Nigeria’s evolving digital landscape.

The book, a compilation of insightful essays, articles, and reports, delves into critical themes relevant to Nigeria’s efforts to harness the full potential of its digital economy, Dr. Maida noted.

Dr. D. C. Onyejiuwa, Head of the Department of Economics at GVU, lauded Fisho’s impactful role in the Fintech community and academia, acknowledging his efforts in fostering development and disseminating knowledge.

Expressing gratitude to all contributors, Fisho stressed the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving significant milestones, highlighting the book as a testament to collective dedication and expertise.

The book launch event was attended by notable personalities, including High Chief Eniola Fayose, Prof. E. S. Asemah, Acting Vice Chancellor of GVU, and other dignitaries.

Featuring 25 chapters, the book serves as a Festschrift for Dipo Fisho, offering insights and solutions to the challenges facing the Fintech sector in Nigeria. It underscores the transformative role of Fintech and digital payments in Nigeria’s economy, while highlighting government support and the industry’s potential for further growth and development.
