The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has issued a warning stating that the excessive heat currently being experienced in the country will persist for some time.
In a brief statement on its official X page, NiMET highlighted the implications of the ongoing weather conditions and provided advice to the public on how to cope with the situation.
“Air temperatures have reached 41°C in the North and 39°C in the South, with model projections indicating that temperatures will remain high in the coming days,” NiMET stated.

- Heat-Related Illnesses: Including chickenpox, measles, heat rash, weakness, fever, and dry lips.

- Wear Light, Breathable Clothing: Choose lightweight and loose-fitting clothes to reduce heat absorption.
- Avoid Strenuous Physical Activity: Refrain from engaging in vigorous exercise or outdoor activities during peak heat hours, typically between 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm.
