Moniepoint Inc. and NITHub Unilag have announced the commencement of applications for the second cohort of the HatchDev program, aimed at nurturing the next generation of market-ready software engineers in Nigeria.
The nine-month specialized training program is designed to annually produce 300 junior software engineers, 100 intelligent systems developers, and 100 IoT/embedded systems engineers. The program follows a strict recruitment policy and aims to bridge the skilled tech talent gap in Nigeria while supporting the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy’s goal of creating two million digital jobs in the country.
According to Moniepoint, the training will cover Front-end, Back-end, Mobile App Development, UI/UX Design, Data Science, and Embedded Systems/IoT. Upon completion of the course, participants will be absorbed into a market eager for their expertise. The program, which commenced in October 2022, has successfully trained and placed professionals in the industry.
The transformative learning experience provides six months of hands-on training in full-stack development, covering fundamentals to advanced techniques. Participants will also undergo a three-month immersive internship, gaining practical experience and building a network in the industry.
Chukwudum Ekwueme, VP Engineering at Moniepoint Inc., expressed enthusiasm about the program’s potential to empower participants with practical experience, upskilling, startup incubation, and product development, making them valuable assets to the tech industry.
Dr. Victor Odumuyiwa, Director of NITHub and HatchDev project lead, commended Moniepoint for collaborating on the initiative, highlighting the program’s transformative impact on participants’ lives and career opportunities in the global job market.
