President Bola Tinubu has bestowed national honours on the entire Super Eagles squad for their silver medal achievement at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire. In addition to the national honours, each player has been granted a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a flat for their remarkable performance in the recently concluded competition.

Despite Nigeria’s quest for a fourth AFCON title ending in a 2-1 defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the final, the president acknowledged the team’s efforts during a reception at the presidential villa in Abuja. President Tinubu awarded each member of the silver medal-winning squad the Member of the Order of Niger (MON) during the ceremony.

Expressing gratitude, President Tinubu commended the team’s resilience, sportsmanship, and positive attitude. He thanked the players for uplifting the nation’s spirits through their performance at AFCON.

Following the ceremony, Nyesome Wike, the Minister of FCT, distributed forms to the players, facilitating their claims for the gifted lands and apartments.
