The Osun State Police Command has apprehended four individuals suspected to be members of secret cults, along with four alleged members of a car theft syndicate, as disclosed during a press briefing by DCP Hope Okafor.
The cultism suspects, identified as Adejumo Boluwatife (20), Adisa Lateef (23), Gbolahan Oladipupo (25), and Adeagbo Musiliu aka Omo Oshodi (20), were arrested in the Idi-Omo area of Osogbo. Acting on a tip-off on February 7, 2024, the police apprehended Agboola Abeed and Adeagbo Musibau, who confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity terrorizing citizens in the Idi-Omo vicinity. The suspects will face charges in court following the completion of the investigation.
In a separate incident, a car theft syndicate was paraded, consisting of Temitope Oke (33), Wasiu Hammed (19), Olamilekan Yusuf (21), and Julius Wuraola (28). Acting on credible intelligence on February 7, 2024, the Anti-kidnapping operatives intercepted the gang along Osunjela Ilesha road while en route to Kabba Kogi State to sell stolen cars. The suspects, posing as gear mechanics, targeted unsuspecting customers and stole their cars. The recovered vehicles include a 2014 Toyota Camry, a 2010 Toyota Camry (unregistered), a 2005 Honda Accord, and another 2010 Toyota Camry. Investigations are ongoing to recover additional cars in their possession and apprehend other syndicate members. The suspects will face legal charges upon the conclusion of the investigation.
