The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced the approval of 105 applications for the establishment of drug manufacturing facilities across Nigeria. This comes amidst the departure of multinational pharmaceutical companies from the country.
These approved applications, selected from a total of 143, comply with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines set by the World Health Organization (WHO) and NAFDAC’s GMP for Medicinal Products Regulations 2021.
According to NAFDAC’s Director General, Mojisola Adeyeye, 35% of the approved facilities have completed construction and are progressing through the registration stages as per NAFDAC’s guidelines for pharmaceutical plant establishment.
