In a series of coordinated operations, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended 24 individuals involved in drug trafficking and distribution. Among them is a 42-year-old man caught transporting a large quantity of opioid pills to an insurgent stronghold in Borno State’s Banki area.
Additionally, the agency detained a six-month-pregnant woman, a mother of three, and three other women during major interdiction efforts.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, these operations resulted in the confiscation of over 7,609 kilograms of various illicit drugs in eight states.
The most significant seizure occurred in Nasarawa State, where NDLEA operatives intercepted a truck with registration Lagos JJJ 64 YC. The vehicle was transporting 367 jumbo bags of cannabis sativa, weighing a total of 4,037 kilograms. The illicit cargo was en route from Akure, Ondo State, destined for delivery in the Shabu area of Lafia, the state capital.
