Former Gun Runner’s Wife Caught Collecting Ransom in Taraba Raid

In separate operations, Nigerian Army troops have arrested notorious criminals, including Janet Igohia, the wife of the late high-profile gun runner Gana Terwase from Benue State. Janet was apprehended on January 25, 2024, allegedly collecting a ransom of N1.5 million for a kidnapped person in Taraba State. During interrogation, she revealed her marriage to the late Gana Terwase and her current marriage to another notorious terrorist, Voryor Gata, second in command to Gana Terwase.

In another operation, the troops arrested Joshua Dutse Idah, a notorious gun runner who supplied arms and ammunition to terror groups across the country. The spokesperson for the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army confirmed the multiple arrests, stating that a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and cash were recovered from the suspects.

The arrest of Joshua Dutse Idah took place on January 20, 2024, in Ibi town, Ibi LGA, Taraba State. Joshua confessed to his involvement in illegal arms dealings and revealed his plan to bring AK 47 Rifles to Katsina State. The search on his vehicle led to the recovery of a PK Machine Gun, 399 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, and 3 AK 47 Rifle Magazines.

Additionally, on January 25, 2024, troops arrested Janet Igohia, who was collecting a ransom payment of N1.5 million for an abducted victim. Janet disclosed her association with extremist groups and revealed her marriage to Voryor Gata, a notorious criminal and former second in command to late Gana Terwase. The troops also apprehended two suspected gunrunners, Alhaji Adamu Damisa and Usman Isah, in Mararaba Baissa community of Donga Local Government Area, recovering proceeds of their illegal activities and mobile phones.

The ongoing operations aim to prevent Taraba State from becoming a safe haven for violent extremist groups and insurgents. The arrests underscore the military’s commitment to addressing security challenges and apprehending individuals involved in criminal activities.
