The Premiere Academy in Abuja As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility portfolio, hosted the 2024 edition of its Annual Technology Fair, an inter-school technology contest and innovation exhibition aimed at providing budding information technology stars in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) a platform to showcase their skills and outputs.
The Tech Fair, themed “Developing One Young Mind at a Time,” was designed to contribute to the realization of Article Four of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which centers on Quality Education. The project sought to emphasize the importance of integrating modern technology trends into present-day education to enhance sustainable growth.
A major highlight of the Fair was the inter-school technology contest, won by Claret International School Abuja, with Lakeside School Abuja and NAFOWA School securing second and third place, respectively.
The contest allowed participating students to showcase their talents and problem-solving skills in various technology-related challenges, including coding challenges and robotics competitions. Other segments of the event included seminars, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
In a keynote address, Dr. Oluyemi Akinyinka, an expert in IP Solutions, Data Science, and Tech Strategy, emphasized the role of technology skills in national innovation development and progress. He highlighted the importance of education in empowering young minds to harness the power of technology for positive societal changes.
Premiere Academy’s Director of Academics and Administration, Mr. Chris Akinsowon, emphasized the profound impact of education on shaping the future by nurturing young minds and fostering their passion for innovation. He urged participants to consider the broader implications of their actions and cultivate a culture of responsibility and ethics in their use of technology.
The event concluded with participants, led by students of Premiere Academy, exhibiting various personal and group Robotics and Coding projects to the applause of parents and guests in attendance.
