The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has purportedly apprehended Abubakar Ahmad Sirika, the brother of former Minister Hadi Sirika, in connection with an alleged N8.06 billion contract fraud within the Federal Ministry of Aviation. Abubakar Sirika, holding the position of a Level-16 officer in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, is identified as the owner of Engirios Nigeria Limited, a company that reportedly received N3.2 billion from contracts awarded by his brother during his tenure.
The contracts in question involve various projects, including the construction of the Terminal Building in Katsina Airport, the Fire Truck Maintenance and Refurbishment Centre in Katsina Airport, procurement and installation of equipment in Aviation House, Abuja, and the procurement of aircraft and simulator for the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria.
Despite the substantial payments made for these contracts, investigators have allegedly uncovered no evidence of work being carried out on these projects, raising concerns of fraudulent activities.
