Former Nigerian international, Sunday Oliseh, sheds light on the factors propelling the Super Eagles to success in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.

Following a tentative start with a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea, the Super Eagles have rallied, securing four consecutive victories without conceding a single goal. This remarkable performance has positioned them as strong contenders for the championship title.

In a recent analysis, Oliseh praised Jose Peseiro’s team for their exceptional tactics, pinpointing the effectiveness of their compact play and the prowess of central defensive midfielders. According to Oliseh, these players have mastered the art of winning the ball, making it nearly impossible for opponents to breach the central defense.

Oliseh specifically lauded Semi Ajayi for his outstanding contributions to the team’s success. Ajayi stands out as the only player in the squad to have played every minute in Côte d’Ivoire, playing a pivotal role in the team’s four consecutive clean sheets.

“People are forgetting that Ajayi is doing a great job at the back. The man is quiet, but he’s doing his job,” remarked Oliseh, highlighting the often understated but crucial role played by Ajayi in the team’s defensive solidity.

As the Super Eagles gear up for the semi-finals, their victories against formidable opponents like hosts Côte d’Ivoire and long-standing rivals Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions have only strengthened their position as favorites for the AFCON crown.
