The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Mr. Mohammed Omadefu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the rerun election for the Keana constituency seat in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly held on Saturday.

The rerun election became necessary after the Appeal Court in Abuja, during its session in November 2023, declared the initial state assembly election results for Keana constituency inconclusive. The court mandated a rerun in five polling units within the Agaza electoral ward to determine the rightful winner of the election.

Dr. Hassan Imam, the returning officer for the Keana constituency, hailing from the Federal University of Lafia, declared the results of the rerun election. According to him, Mr. Mohammed Omadefu of the APC secured 557 votes, while Mr. Basil Osheka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 470 votes.
