Security operatives have reportedly rescued the 16 farmers who were kidnapped in Dan-Gunu Community of Munya Local Government Area in Niger State.
The victims, including pregnant women and children, were abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits.
After an emergency security meeting, security operatives were mobilized to go after the bandits, resulting in the successful rescue of all kidnapped victims.
The victims are currently receiving medical care at a hospital facility before being reunited with their families.
The Munya LGA Chairman also mentioned the reopening of some primary schools in the area, with renovations and distribution of teaching materials to support the return of pupils who have been at home for years.
