Nigeria and Sweden to Explore Economic and Trade Collaboration

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, and Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Inger Ultvedt Hahn-Englund, held discussions today to explore avenues for enhancing economic and trade collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden.

Ambassador Hahn-Englund acknowledged the presence of around 40 Swedish companies operating in Nigeria, highlighting the robust economic connections between the two nations. She praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, expressing confidence in their positive impact on economic growth.

Senator Bagudu reiterated Nigeria’s dedication to creating a favorable environment for foreign investment and trade. He emphasized the government’s initiatives to improve infrastructure, enhance security, and implement policies supporting economic diversification. Both parties agreed to explore collaboration in specific areas, including renewable energy, agriculture, and digital technology.

The discussions also covered the promotion of trade and investment opportunities, showcasing the growing economic ties and mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Sweden.
