Delta State: Nigerian Army Vows to Eradicate Oil Theft

Brigadier-General Salisu Aliyu, the Commander of the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Delta State, has reiterated the commitment to eradicating crude oil theft and criminal activities in the region.

Speaking during the inauguration of projects led by Lieutenant-Colonel AN Abubakar in Ika North-East Local Government Area, Aliyu emphasized the importance of sustaining operations against oil theft for national security and economic prosperity. He acknowledged the Brigade’s contributions and urged troops to maintain the achievements in support of the nation’s security and economic well-being. Aliyu commended the projects for addressing administrative and operational challenges, encouraging officers to take ownership and uphold a positive maintenance culture for the benefit of future generations.

In his remarks, Lieutenant-Colonel Abubakar expressed the significance of the projects, noting their positive impact on officers, soldiers, and their families. The facilities, including the Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess, were designed to create an enabling environment for optimal duty performance, relaxation, and community building. Lt.-Col Abubakar highlighted the features of the projects, including a five-bedroom accommodation for guests on transit, a NAPEX, a restaurant, signposts along the highway to enhance security awareness, a Guard Post, and electricity lines connected to soldiers’ accommodation. The projects were deemed crucial for enhancing the overall well-being and operational efficiency of the military unit.
