A 20-year-old man, Seun Olarewaju, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison by an Ado-Ekiti High Court for raping a 3-year-old girl. Olarewaju faced a one-count charge of rape, with the incident occurring on August 6, 2021, in Ado-Ekiti.
The assault came to light when the victim’s mother noticed redness and swelling in her daughter’s private area while bathing her. The child identified Olarewaju as the perpetrator.
Considering the defendant’s age and potential for rehabilitation, the court handed down a sentence of 30 months imprisonment without the option of a fine. The sentence is effective from September 20, 2021, when Olarewaju was rearrested by the police.
