Two teenage sisters were abducted by gunmen believed to be bandits in Guita community, Chikakore, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of Abuja. The abduction occurred just eight days after Chikakore residents protested the deplorable state of a major road they deemed a contributing factor to the recurring kidnappings in the area.

Despite the presence of military and police patrols, the gunmen, numbering six, returned last Sunday around 11:25 pm. They seized the girls, aged 16 and 14, navigating through the forests and hills. A police source confirmed the abduction, revealing that the assailants also took a man’s three children but left one (the boy) behind with a ransom demand of N30 million.

The gunmen altered their tactics this time, foregoing their usual gunfire during the operation. Instead, they forcibly entered the house, prompting the owner, a Calabar man, to seek help from vigilantes and authorities. Unfortunately, by the time reinforcements arrived, the gunmen had vanished.

The mother, attempting to clothe one of the kidnapped girls in the cold, pleaded with the gunmen but was assaulted. The girls were taken as is, with the gunmen instructing the boy to convey the ransom message to his father.

As the community awaits updates, the kidnapped girls’ father, a prominent figure in security matters, has reportedly supported the community through various donations.
