The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has reported that its Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Mele Kyari, held discussions with Daewoo Engineering and Construction (Daewoo E&C) regarding a potential collaboration in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector. This meeting aligns with the heightened interest from the international community in investing in Nigeria’s energy industry, as stated in an NNPC announcement on Monday.

In February 2023, NNPC had previously entered into a maintenance services contract with Daewoo E&C, specifically for the swift repair of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC). The recent visit by Kyari took place at the global headquarters of Daewoo E&C in Seoul, South Korea.

During the visit, Kyari engaged with Wonju Jung, the Group Chairman of Daewoo E&C, and Jungwan Baek, the company’s Chief Executive Officer and President. NNPC emphasized that this visit underscores the growing international interest in investing in Nigeria’s energy sector, citing the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in creating a favorable business environment, particularly in the oil and gas domain.
