CBN to Reshape Operations as 1,500 Members Relocate to Lagos

Following the decision to relocate some departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to Lagos, approximately 1,500 CBN staff members are set to resume work at the Lagos office on February 2. The move is aimed at enhancing staff safety, productivity, and relieving congestion at the headquarters.

The decision to relocate is attributed to the need to align the bank’s structure with its functions, redistribute skills for a more even geographical spread of talent, and comply with building regulations.

Despite criticism from some Northern groups, CBN Governor Yemi Cardoso is determined to implement the relocation plan, which is expected to reduce the headquarters’ occupancy level.
