The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, in partnership with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and Microsoft, has unveiled an initiative aimed at enhancing the digital skills of civil servants across various ministries.
The initiative aligns with the OHCSF’s strategic vision to prepare the public sector workforce for the demands of the digital era, marking a crucial step towards the digitization of essential public services.
Through this collaboration, Microsoft is actively contributing to laying the foundation for digital transformation in Nigeria by providing civil servants with contemporary digital skills essential for the 21st-century workplace. This move empowers government employees to actively participate in and contribute to the digitization of critical public services.
The OHCSF, with the support of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, had previously implemented an Enterprise Content Management Solution (ECMS) in 2023 to automate work processes, aligning with the federal government’s e-governance initiative. Recognizing the importance of digital readiness in the success of the ECMS, the Foundation partnered with Microsoft to create a digital upskilling program for civil servants.
The digital upskilling program is designed to equip participating civil servants with essential digital skills, creating a workforce that is not only digitally competent but also capable of driving ongoing innovation within the Civil Service. The program’s official commencement was marked by a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony at the Federal Secretariat, OHCSF, in Abuja.
This initiative is part of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation’s broader collaboration with the OHCSF, which includes projects like the development of an e-learning platform for the Civil Service, the introduction of a robust performance management system, and a culture change initiative focused on instilling the right values in civil servants.
As a demonstration of its ongoing commitment to building the capacity of the government workforce, the Foundation facilitated a public-private sector partnership that provided eight-week internships to civil servants across various private sector organizations. This initiative was part of the 2023 Leadership Enhancement and Development Programme, a 10-month training program designed to enhance the capacity of Nigeria’s future public sector leaders.
The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to drive and support impactful initiatives contributing to the growth and efficiency of the Nigerian public sector for the benefit of all Nigerians.
