The Supreme Court has affirmed the election victory of Siminalayi Fubara as the Governor of Rivers State.
The case was brought to the court by Patrick Tonye Cole, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who challenged Governor Fubara’s qualification, alleging that he was still employed by the Rivers State government as the Accountant General during the election.
Both the Tribunal and Appeal Court had previously dismissed Cole’s case for lack of merit. The Supreme Court upheld the decisions, stating that Cole failed to prove his allegations of over-voting and non-compliance.
