The Federal Government is stepping up efforts to bring back and keep out-of-school children in educational institutions, according to the Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Sununu.
Speaking in Yola during the inauguration of the National Campaign on Out-of-school Children 2024 for four geo-political zones in Nigeria, the Minister emphasized the importance of this initiative in creating a better society. He noted that numerous children in the country are still denied their fundamental right to education, with socio-cultural and economic issues compounded by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic contributing to the problem.
The government’s roadmap for the education sector from 2023 to 2027 highlights the pressing need to address the high rate of out-of-school children in Nigeria.
