Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has extended a compassionate gesture by donating N100 million in cash to the victims affected by the recent fire incident at Damaturu’s popular GSM Market. The governor visited the market to express his sympathy and directed the Yobe Emergency Management Agency to assess the damage, signaling possible government intervention.
Approximately 30 shops were impacted by the fire, resulting in the destruction of goods valued at over N150 million. Governor Buni reassured the affected traders of his administration’s unwavering support and pledged to take necessary steps to aid their recovery. He also expressed heartfelt prayers for protection against future incidents.
The fire is reported to have been caused by a surge in electricity supply.
