Some communities in Ibadan, including Progressive Estate, Heritage Estate, Oorelope community, Ore-Ofe Estate, and Ire-Akari community, have given the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) a seven-day ultimatum to restore their power supply. The communities, fed by the Ajinde Feeder of IBEDC, expressed dissatisfaction with the recent epileptic power supply in a letter dated January 16.
Residents complained about the unbearable situation, citing a significant reduction in power supply over the past seven weeks. They highlighted disparities, noting that neighboring communities like Oluyole Estate and Elebu receive better power supply.
The Joint Community Development Association (CDA) of these communities demanded that IBEDC address the power supply issue within seven days. The communities warned of mass protests if a resolution is not reached. IBEDC’s Public Relations Officer, Ms. Busolami Tunwase, attributed the challenge to allocation issues and expressed the company’s willingness to meet with the communities to find a solution. A meeting is scheduled for Friday at the IBEDC office in Molete.
