The Nasarawa State Police Command has issued cheques totaling N41,478,893.00 to the families of police officers who lost their lives in active service. Mr. Umar Shehu Nadada, the Commissioner of Police in the state, presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, in Lafia yesterday.
In a statement, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, quoted the CP as mentioning that officers who sustained injuries during their official assignments were also included among the beneficiaries. The initiative, known as the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Insurance and Group Life Assurance, aims to enhance the living conditions of families of police operatives who lost their lives and those who sustained injuries in the line of duty.
The CP commended the Inspector-General of Police for supporting the families of officers who lost their lives in service and for ensuring better welfare for police personnel. He advised the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, particularly for the education of the children left behind and to invest in ventures that would generate income, thus easing their challenges.
