A Lagos High Court has sentenced Samuel Ademola Oladimeji to life imprisonment for the egregious offense of sexually assaulting his three children through penetration. Justice Abiola Sholadoye of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja delivered the verdict, emphasizing the unshaken testimonies of prosecution witnesses.
Five witnesses, including the abused children, their mother, and the Investigating Police Officer from Ilupeju Police Station, Family Support Unit, testified for the Lagos State Government. The case was initially reported to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) after the children complained of pain in their private parts. Subsequent medical evaluation at the Mirabel Centre confirmed the sexual assault.
Justice Sholadoye, in her judgment, affirmed that the prosecution successfully proved the offense beyond reasonable doubt. Consequently, Samuel Oladimeji received three concurrent life imprisonment sentences. The judge further mandated the inclusion of the convict’s name in the Lagos State Sexual Offences Register.
In response to the sentencing, DSVA commended the survivors’ family for their resilience and reiterated the state’s unwavering commitment to a Zero Tolerance Stance for Sexual and Gender-Based Violence. The agency assured survivors that justice is prevailing and perpetrators will be held accountable for their actions.
