Obi Aguocha, a member of the House of Representatives for Umuahia North/Umuahia South/Ikwuano Federal Constituency in Abia State, has strongly criticized former President Muhammadu Buhari for contemplating the elimination of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Aguocha’s reaction comes after revelations from Buhari’s former aide, Femi Adesina, who suggested in a new book that eliminating Kanu was considered as an option.

In a statement to journalists in Abuja, Aguocha expressed deep concern over Buhari’s remarks, emphasizing that even contemplating the elimination of a citizen raises serious questions about the commitment to the rule of law and human rights. He called on Buhari to disclose his actions towards Nnamdi Kanu and the Southeast during his tenure.

Aguocha stated, “The suggestion of ‘elimination’ as a viable option undermines the principles of justice and due process.” He pointed out that the recent Supreme Court judgment condemned Buhari’s government for the attack on Kanu’s home and his extradition from Kenya. Aguocha criticized Buhari for implying that subjecting Kanu to such illegality was a favor, deeming it reckless and suggestive of personal vendetta.

The lawmaker urged Buhari to confess openly about his actions concerning Nnamdi Kanu and the Southeast, cautioning against playing God in matters related to Kanu. He emphasized the need for civility and transparency from leaders, especially in handling sensitive issues.
