The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has lauded President Bola Tinubu for the positive strides taken in repositioning the country, expressing confidence in his commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges. Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of CAN, conveyed the association’s support and admiration for the President’s efforts during a meeting with State House Correspondents on Monday in Abuja.
The purpose of the visit was twofold – to extend congratulations to President Tinubu on his electoral victory in the 2023 election and to affirm CAN’s endorsement and backing for the administration’s initiatives.
Archbishop Okoh acknowledged President Tinubu’s responsiveness to the concerns of Nigerians, emphasizing that the President has demonstrated a keen sensitivity to the challenges facing the nation. He urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the ongoing reforms, noting that President Tinubu’s inclusive approach has fostered a sense of belonging among citizens.
“Sincerely, what we found out is that the President is actually sensitive to all these challenges that we have. He’s aware, and we see him making very positive steps, even from the beginning of his administration,” remarked Mr. Okoh. He highlighted the inclusiveness in the government, stating that Nigerians are increasingly feeling a sense of belonging.
According to Mr. Okoh, President Tinubu’s pronouncements and body language have bolstered the confidence of Nigerians in their country. He expressed optimism that given the opportunity, the President would accomplish even more in turning around the fortunes of Nigeria.
While acknowledging the current challenges, Mr. Okoh encouraged Nigerians to persevere, emphasizing that the journey toward rectifying these issues has just begun. He reassured the public that despite the difficulties, a new dawn is on the horizon, and the President is taking steps to reverse the prevailing trends.
“We ask Nigerians who are watching and those people who seem to have lost hope, to not lose hope, but to have patience and persevere. Though it is night, we know that a new dawn is just in the horizon,” urged Mr. Okoh.
The President of CAN urged President Tinubu to maintain the path of inclusiveness and openness in leadership. He cited the President’s commitment to continued dialogue and engagement with stakeholders as crucial to achieving the goals outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration.
“We believe that now we have a listening president. And we urge him to continue on that path. And to continue to always look out for those who mean well for this nation, and put them into good use,” concluded Mr. Okoh, expressing optimism about the prospect of a revitalized and great Nigeria under President Tinubu’s leadership.
