China-based clean energy services provider Wison New Energies, formerly known as Wison Offshore & Marine, has commenced the design validation and pre-FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) phase for two floating LNG (FLNG) projects in Nigeria.

The pre-FEED phase has officially begun for two FLNG projects, each with a capacity of 3 million tons per annum (mtpa), owned by Nigerian companies Ace Gas and FLNG, and Transoceanic Gas & Power.

Transoceanic Gas & Power’s FLNG Project:

  • Location: Offshore Pennington, proximal to OML 289 (Cleanwaters consortium-operated block).
  • Capacity: 3 mtpa of LNG for international markets and 150,000 MT/yr of LPG for the domestic market.
  • Development Plan: Phased development with a floating power barge concept, starting with a Phase 1 Power capacity of 250MW.

Ace Gas and FLNG Project:

  • Location: Offshore Escravos.
  • Capacity: 3 mtpa of LNG for international markets and 150,000 MT/yr of LPG for the domestic market.

Common Elements:

  • Upstream gathering facilities managed by Samsung Heavy Industry Nigeria.
  • Power and compression systems provided by Siemens Energy.
  • Offtake assurances for LNG with Socar, Vitol, and Karpowership.

These contracts follow Wison’s recent name change from Wison Offshore & Marine to Wison New Energies, reflecting the company’s commitment to low-carbon technologies and solutions. Additionally, Wison entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) at the end of 2023 for the development of a floating LNG project in Nigeria, targeting the international LNG market.
