The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has nullified the results of teachers engaged in malpractice during the recent professional qualifying examination (PQE). Out of the 15,753 teachers who took the exam nationwide, approximately 3,963 failed.

TRCN Registrar, Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, confirmed that cases of malpractice were handled across the country, and results were canceled as punitive measures.

Ajiboye highlighted the council’s achievements, including clearing a debt of over N150 million and conducting PQE in over 100 institutions, with six batches held online for Nigerians abroad.

He emphasized that the teaching profession is no longer an “all-comers affair,” with over 2.3 million registered teachers, but acknowledged the need to address unqualified teachers in private schools, hinting at potential legal actions.
