The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, Sunday Asefon, has called for a shift in the employment paradigm, advocating automatic job placement for first-class graduates, particularly the overall best-graduating students from various departments in universities and other tertiary institutions.
Asefon made this statement in Abuja on Thursday during the unveiling of the Nigerian students’ flag and the renewed hope program agenda for the students by his office.
Highlighting the need to attract top talents and address the ongoing shortage of lecturers in the university system and other tertiary institutions, he emphasized activating the policy of retaining the best-graduating students.
Asefon argued that absorbing first-class graduates into public service, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) would significantly enhance the necessary human capital for accelerating the country’s economic development.
He also conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ending attacks on schools and student abductions for ransom, mentioning ongoing collaborations with security agencies to implement the Safe School Initiative of the Federal Government effectively.
