Two-time African Player of the Year, Nwankwo Kanu, has stated that teams are now afraid to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria following their 1-0 victory over Cote d’Ivoire at the 2023 AFCON.
The Super Eagles secured three valuable points, pushing the Elephants down to third place with William Ekong’s goal from the spot.
Nwankwo, an Olympic Gold Medalist, praised the players and coaches for displaying a determined performance to silence the hosts at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara.
The victory propelled the Super Eagles to joint-first in Group A, trailing only behind Equatorial Guinea on goal difference, while the Elephants dropped to third position.
