The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has introduced its revamped e-auction platform, achieving notable success since its relaunch. Accessible at https://auction.nigeriatradehub.gov.ng, the upgraded portal aims to provide equal opportunities for Nigerians to participate in auctions.
In a statement released on January 19, Chief Superintendent Abdullahi Maiwada, the Service’s national public relations officer, highlighted that this strategic move aligns with the guidelines of the newly enacted Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023. The development emphasizes the agency’s commitment to efficiency, fairness, and transparent disposal of seized and overtime goods.
Key results since the relaunch include 1,137 bids, 1,099 registered applicants, 652 successfully paid administration fees, 100 vehicles uploaded on the platform, and 86 vehicles bid on and won.
CSC Maiwada reiterated the commitment to transparency, accessibility, and public engagement through the enhanced e-auction platform. The initiative aims to foster a fair and efficient process for the disposal of seized and overtime goods.
The statement emphasized that auctions are periodic, occurring every Tuesday from 12 noon to 6 pm. Successful bidders are encouraged to promptly download their winning certificates through the provided link in the confirmation email. Winners must present the certificate at the location of the goods, and the clearance process should be completed within seven days.
While acknowledging occasional glitches reported by participants, potentially due to high traffic, the NCS assured the public that its dedicated technical team is actively addressing the situation. The agency pledged to swiftly resolve initial issues to ensure a seamless experience in all subsequent exercises.
