The Supreme Court has validated the election of Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Governor of Nasarawa State.

A five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun,  dismissed the  appeal filed by the Emmanuel David Ombugadu and the Peoples Democratic Party.

Justice Kekere-Ekun,  resolved all the issues identified for determination, against the PDP and Ombugadu while holding that their case lacked merit.

Recall that the State Election Petitions Tribunal had earlier sacked the governor and declared his challenger, David Ombugadu, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful winner of the March 18, 2023 governorship election.

But, the Appeal Court reinstated Sule and held that the Tribunal wrongly relied on the evidence of eight of the PDP witnesses, whose statements on oath were not front-loaded alongside the petition.
