The Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO), Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, is urging the Federal Government to support private institutions like IUO through TETFund intervention projects. Emphasizing the significance of government support, especially as IUO approaches its 25th-anniversary celebration, Ezemonye highlighted the challenges faced by private universities.
Addressing reporters in Edo State, the vice chancellor expressed the belief that government backing would help private institutions overcome longstanding hurdles. IUO, being the first private university in Nigeria, has achieved notable milestones in teaching, research, and producing exceptional graduates contributing to national and global development.
Ezemonye emphasized the 25-year corporate existence of IUO as a noteworthy landmark deserving celebration. He noted the rapid changes in higher education globally and the necessity for universities to adapt to technological disruptions and a digital paradigm shift for future readiness.
