The government of Cote d’Ivoire has declared Thursday, January 18, a public holiday for students, with some government parastatals closing work by 1 pm.
The decision aims to garner more support for the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire ahead of their second group A game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the AFCON tournament.
The government encourages citizens to prepare for the crucial match. Cote d’Ivoire won their first game 2-0 against Guinea Bissau, while Nigeria drew 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea in their opening match.
