President Bola Tinubu expressed deep sadness following the tragic explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday night, resulting in the loss of two lives, injuries to around 80 individuals, and extensive damage to buildings and vehicles. The President conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the affected families and the entire Oyo State community.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President, Media & Publicity further stated that expressing concern over reports attributing the explosion to the activities of illegal miners, President Tinubu emphasized the need to identify and hold accountable those responsible for such reckless behavior. He urged relevant authorities to promptly investigate the incident and ensure that those behind it face appropriate consequences.
President Tinubu called on government agencies, particularly the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to collaborate with the Oyo State Government in delivering immediate and comprehensive relief to the victims. The President emphasized the importance of swift action to address the aftermath of the tragedy and provide support to those affected.
