The Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Mogaji has charged the Super Eagles to defy all odds and beat host Côte d’Ivoire.
Nigeria will face Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday (tomorrow) in their second match of the ongoing AFCON 2023 after being held by Guinea in their first match.
In an exclusive interview with Abdul Momoh and ashogo Shodunke at Palaais de la Culture de Treicchviille (Ivory Football house) Mogaji charged the team not to be discouraged by their results in the first game.
Mogaji said, “We urge you to rather see the first match as a stepping stone to your success and glory by demonstrating the Nigerian spirit of determination, focus, resilience, discipline and conquest on and off the pitch.”
Mogaji who is currently in Côte D’Ivoire with his Director of sports kwara state sports commission revealed that the Arabs would have won the FIFA World Cup of prayers were the only way to lift the trophy.
He said, “I believe in prayers but you have to work and pray. The players have to put much more effort against Côte d’Ivoire because if prayers were the only key to win, the Arabians should have lifted the FIFA World Cup each time they participated.
