Concerned about the worsening state of insecurity in Abuja, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has called an emergency meeting with security agencies, FCTA officials, area council chairmen, and traditional rulers. The meeting aims to address the rising security challenges, including kidnappings and banditry in the city. Wike urged council chairmen to fulfill their responsibilities and assured residents of improved security measures. He emphasized the need to re-strategize the security architecture to tackle the prevailing challenges.
During the meeting, Wike warned council chairmen against frequent overseas trips amid security and education crises in the FCT. In a similar move, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani summoned an emergency security meeting to address the resurgence of terrorists and kidnappers in Southern Kaduna and other parts of the state. The meeting involved military officials, traditional rulers, and local council chairmen. Governor Sani emphasized the need for concerted efforts to address security challenges, particularly in areas like Kauru, Kajuru, Birnin Gwari, Igabi, Chikun, Kachia, Kagarko, and the Kaduna-Abuja Road. He proposed the establishment of the Kaduna State Security Trust Fund to mobilize resources for effective countermeasures against banditry and terrorism.
