The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has maintained a conspicuous silence on allegations of an N438 million fraud, with Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration failing to appear before the bureau.
The Minister’s company was called before the Bureau on Tuesday to answer questions about his connection to New. It was alleged that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development awarded it a controversial N438 million consultancy contract.
Despite the gravity of the allegations, the CCB has chosen not to provide any information or updates on the case, leaving the public in the dark and raising concerns about transparency in the inquiry process.
According to the Abuja City Journal, Tunji-Ojo has declined to appear before the CCB on Tuesday to answer questions about his relationship with New Planet Projects Limited.
Our reporter contacted Dr. Sebastian Gwinmi, the CCB’s Director of Intelligence, Investigation, and Monitoring, for his comment to the news, but he did not answer the phone or respond to our messages.
Tunji-Ojo’s failure to appear before the Code of Conduct Bureau adds another layer of mystery to the situation. The minister’s absence from the planned proceedings adds to the mystery surrounding the alleged fraud case, sparking speculation and raising questions about accountability in the political environment.
The N438 million fraud allegations have not only tarnished the accused minister’s reputation, but have also generated broader concerns about the effectiveness of anti-corruption efforts and the transparency of investigations involving high-profile individuals.
As the controversy unfolds, there is a growing call for transparency and openness from both the Code of Conduct Bureau and the implicated minister.
