Numerous passengers are unaccounted for following the capsizing of a passenger boat carrying approximately 100 individuals in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The Disaster Officer for Borgu LGA reported the recovery of five bodies, with ongoing search and rescue efforts.
The boat was traveling from Dugga Mashaya in Niger State to Wara market in Kebbi State, transporting both passengers and goods. As of now, there is no confirmed information regarding casualties or survivors.
Niger State has experienced several boat accidents in recent months, resulting in numerous fatalities.
Authorities are currently investigating the latest incident.
