Opposition leader Peter Obi presented a cheque for N75 million to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Specialist Hospital in Nkpor, Anambra, on Thursday.

While presenting the cheque, Mr. Obi explained that the donation comprised $50,000 he raised for the hospital through his friend, Philip Ozuah, and his contribution of N15 million.

The Labour Party leader commended the hospital for its remarkable work in the areas of health, education, and poverty reduction.

Mr. Obi added that he would consistently engage with like-minded individuals to support society in critical areas such as health and education, expressing appreciation to Dr. Ozuah for his positive intervention.

According to Mr. Obi, the hospital management provides treatment for people, including the poor who cannot pay their bills. Hence, individuals like him should come to their aid and support them.

“I have been doing this for years and will continue to offer my support for this. I will always support well-managed institutions.

“I most sincerely thank the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters for the wonderful work they are doing in critical areas of development such as health, education, and lifting people out of poverty,” Mr. Obi said.
