Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged the Super Eagles to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as a source of encouragement for Nigerians facing economic challenges.
He addressed the team during a special dinner, expressing confidence in their ability to bring the country together.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized the unifying role of sports, encouraging the players to see themselves as a source of succor for the nation.
He reminded them of the support from over 220 million Nigerians, urging resilience and belief in their capabilities throughout the tournament.
The AFCON competition is set to commence on Saturday in Cote-de-Ivoire.
