A fire outbreak at an engine oil depot in Kano has claimed one life, causing extensive damage to several buildings in its vicinity.

Situated at Hotoro Eastern bypass, the depot’s proximity to numerous buildings exacerbated the inferno, prompting the evacuation of area residents as firefighters from the state’s fire service worked to control the blaze.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire ignited following the arrival of an oil tanker loaded with oil at the facility.
