A Kabusa Grade I Area Court in Abuja issued an order for the remand of a 44-year-old tenant, Chris Okoye, who allegedly assaulted his landlord, in a recent court case. Judge Malam Abubakar Sadiq issued the decision after hearing the defendant’s plea.
Okoye, residing at 2A Niger Avenue Villa Nova, Apo, is facing charges of criminal conspiracy, intimidation, the use of force, assault, and causing hurt. Despite the charges leveled against him, Okoye entered a plea of not guilty during the court session.
The court heard from the prosecutor, O.S. Osho, that the landlord, Mr. Ochengele Isaac, reported the incident at the Apo Police Station on January 3. According to Osho, Okoye, along with his two children and an individual named Gideon, allegedly beat up the landlord, resulting in injuries.
Notably, the prosecutor informed the court that Okoye’s two children and Gideon were currently evading authorities, being at large. In response to the circumstances presented, Judge Sadiq adjourned the case until January 16 for a more in-depth hearing.
