The Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Council in Nasarawa State, Mr. Safiyanu Isah Andaha, and three others who were abducted by suspected bandits have been released following the payment of a N10 million ransom.
As previously reported by Abuja City Journal, the council chairman and his friend, Adamu Custom, along with two others, were kidnapped on Monday night along the Akwanga-Andaha road.
A reliable source, who wished to remain anonymous, informed the media that the victims were released on Tuesday night around 9 pm behind an obsolete filling station on Bayan Dutse road, located on the outskirts of Andaha town. The source confirmed that a ransom of N10 million was paid for their release.
The source further revealed that he overheard the council chairman recounting his harrowing experience in the bush, detailing the humiliation they endured at the hands of the abductors.
Following their release, the victims were promptly taken to Custom’s residence in Andaha. Shortly thereafter, the chairman and some of the victims, accompanied by heavy security operatives, were rushed to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Keffi, for medical attention.
