Tech4Dev has launched Taltrix, a business process outsourcing (BPO) social enterprise, with the ambitious goal of becoming Africa’s largest outsourcing company by 2030 and employing 100,000 young Africans over the next seven years. The BPO project, launched in collaboration with Impact Hub Lagos, Univelcity, and hosted by Microsoft Nigeria, aims to tap into Africa’s growing technology and creative ecosystem.
Joel Ogunsola, CEO of Taltrix, expressed optimism about the venture, citing Nigeria’s large, young population and vibrant technology ecosystem as favorable conditions for the BPO industry to thrive. Ogunsola stated, “Over the next seven years, we want to directly employ 100,000 people, starting from Nigeria and across Africa. We believe that the outsourcing sector has the probability to grow to become a $200 billion sector on the continent.”
Ogunsola sees various factors working in favor of outsourcing into Africa, including multinational companies seeking cost-effective options and the Nigerian government’s commitment to outsourcing as a means of job creation. The government’s recent commitment aligns with Taltrix’s vision of contributing to job creation through outsourcing.
Oladiwura Oladepo, Executive Director of Tech4Dev, emphasized that Taltrix’s launch would drive economic growth on the continent by investing in human capital development. She stated, “Taltrix is not just about filling job roles; we are investing in human capital development to reduce unemployment and underemployment, which will, in turn, drive economic growth and shape a brighter future for Africa.”
Mrs. Solape Hammond, CEO of Impact Hub Lagos, highlighted Taltrix’s potential to address Nigeria’s internal migration challenges by providing infrastructure and opportunities for skilled professionals in underserved communities. She noted, “Taltrix excites me with its potential for nationwide inclusivity. It focuses on building communities everywhere by providing essential infrastructure like power, internet, and engaging young people.”
Taltrix’s aspirations go beyond job creation, aiming to create an inclusive platform that empowers young Africans and contributes to the economic development of the continent.
